So many online radio stations!

Why do people always want to do everything on their own? Why can't people put their pride in their pockets and utilize existing resources to the maximum? There are more online radio stations than what there are actual programming. How many online stations actually runs for 24 hours a day? I'm sure that alot more will be accomplished if especially us blind bats put our petty differences one side and do more things together. Just my opinion. I'm done now. LOL.

I think it's confusing!!! It's great to have a choice, but damn!!! I wouldn't even know where to start listening.

technology is surely moving on but, I think it's just stupid that you have an online radio station that has more slots open than filled. If you were to combine a few radio stations I'm sure you would be able to scrape together some kind of schedule. But, as I said, it's just how I feel. I'm all for the divide and a million choices policy. The more individualistic the masses become, the more control I'll have over them. Grin.

I would personally love to creat my own radio station or at least, m own show. I'd want it to be unsensored and I'd want to be able to choose all the music etc that goes on in it. I'd apply with some of the preexisting stations, but though my commentary would be in English, all the music would be Greek and I'm not sure if they'd have a slot for me. Also, I'd like it to be more professional than alot of online stations. Some of them are just goofy and I don't know how to describe it. I don't mind little personal stuff every now and then or jokes and I especially don't mind anecdotes about the music, contests or listener involvement. But when the show turns into I had this great cereal for breakfast, and I have a stain on my pants, and calls from listeners that go way off-topic, I lose interest very quickly. As for all the stations out there, I guess everyone has their own spin on things. I know there are a small number of online stations that play rebetika (the kind of Greek music on which I'm focussing) but none of them have djs, only music, and I do think that a little commentary on something like that would be wonderful.

I'm sure you can get a slot somewhere. There are so many empty slots in some of these stations. Let me know and I'll check it out for you.

I personally don't have a problem with there being so many online radio stations. lol I have so many bookmarked in winamp and it's fun to just switch from station to station just to see who's broadcasting and what's playing. I like to add the station's messengers so I can request songs and the like and although I don't ever want to take the time to have my own radio station, I still entertain myself with thoughts of how I could improve things and make them more interesting if I were to ever broadcast. Also, knowing who's on the air is fun too. You could chat back and forth and things like "name that ringtone" or other station games like that are always amusing. lol So I say let there be online radio stations and may their creativity grow!

I don't have a problem with how many online stations there are, to be honest. it's those stations that has 1 or 7 slots filled in, bosting that they are so cool and stuff that irritates me. Also, specifically; the blind community has so many darn stations out there, why don't a few of them just get together; you know, ones with 3 slots filled in and 95 slots available. that way, you'd get some interesting results, I think.

Although I don't listen to internet radio that often, I really like ACB radio! I've found a lot of good music there.

Keep in mind that running your own station isn't free if you decide to go legal by getting lisenced via loud city or any orginisation like that, but I love it all the same being a broadcaster for these past two or so years!

I think its great that there are a lot of online radio stations. That is nothing to rant about.
It is good that there are so many stations because it gives us a choice what to listen to.

I'll only do mine if it's free. But I love listening to the ones on live365.com and shoutcast.com.

My ranting was not actually about the number of stations online. It was about the fact that many stations have more empty slots than filled slots. in other words, alot of people, especially blindies, like to pull in their own direction. Instead of 10 radio stations uniting, pulling together resources and so on, they'd rather wona do their own thing. Hell, I'm all for variety but, it irritates me when you have so many stations with empty slots or dead streams. I don't have a problem with the fact that there are literally thousands of stupid stations online; anything to keep the masses busy and to make them think that they are in control. smirks.
